Spirit of Hope is a specialized consulting and training organization devoted to the intersection of equine-assisted work and grief, death, dying, and loss. Its focus is intentionally narrow and deeply informed by lived experience, long-term practice, and a clear passion for serving those who carry emotional weight for others.

Spirit of Hope consults with both nonprofit and for-profit organizations working in equine-assisted counseling and therapeutic programs. Death, dying, grief, and loss support initiatives. The work is grounded in practical expertise, not theory.

Spirit of Hope helps organizations build programs that are ethical, sustainable, and emotionally sound, while protecting both the people being served and those doing the serving. Services and areas of expertise include:

  • Designing and launching equine-assisted counseling programs.

  • Developing school-based programs addressing grief, death, and loss.

  • Team-building and alignment for boards, staff, and volunteers.

  • Targeted rebuilding and support for frontline staff and development teams.

  • Grief and trauma programming for both children and adults.

  • Individual and group counseling services.

  • Teaching workshops and classes, with options for in-person and modular online learning.

At the core of the work is the Spirit of Hope Model, a practical framework developed to support emotional resilience, ethical care, and long-term sustainability in high-impact, high-emotion environments. Signature offerings include:

  • Training on the emotional and therapeutic impact of horses in counseling and ministry settings.

  • Carrying the Load, a focused workshop designed specifically for those on the front lines of ministry, caregiving, and service—people who are often overlooked while supporting others.

Spirit of Hope exists to strengthen the people and organizations doing the hardest work—by combining specialization, compassion, and real-world expertise into programs that last.
